The idea to publish modern non-fiction books for Russian readers arose in 2006. At that time, there was hardly any popular science literature – in Russian or in translation – on the shelves of bookstores in Russia. At that point, the Zimin Foundation in cooperation with several publishing houses launched a search for experts, scientific editors and translators, as well as for the financial support needed to publish the books, the first of which appeared in 2007. The Foundation’s partnership with these publishers resulted in the publication of a series of non-fiction books.
