The Zimin Foundation is starting a program tailored to support children with special needs. The program will operate across Cyprus through specialised centres that are already actively working in Nicosia, Larnaca, Limassol, and Paphos, ensuring comprehensive coverage throughout the country. The services provided under this program are diverse, including:

Physiotherapy: Targeted interventions to enhance physical mobility and strength, essential for the holistic development of children.

Occupational Therapy: Focused on improving daily living and functional skills, these services help children achieve greater independence and quality of life.

Speech Therapy and Special Education: Catering to communication and educational needs, these services are crucial for the cognitive and social development of children.

This collaboration between the Foundation and families represents a commitment to providing accessible, quality rehabilitation services, aiming to bridge the gap where state support may be insufficient.

The following centers are taking part in the program in 2024:

Ergodrasi Therapeutic Center G. Stokkou 12, Akropoli, Strovolos
BCI Specialized Centre for ABA Konstantinoupoleos 143C, Nicosia 2037
Clepsydra Therapeutic Center, Andreas Miaouli 4, Aradippou
Building Blocks Pediatric Therapy Center Timokreon 4, Limassol
Berta Center Ayias Fylaxeos 117,  Limassol

The Zimin Foundation has established specific eligibility criteria for families seeking rehabilitation services for their children in Cyprus. These criteria are designed to consider the financial circumstances of the families applying for assistance and ensure that assistance is directed to those who need it most, particularly the families underserved by state support. You can get program guide for families here. Look for some of the eligibility criteria:

1. Families must be residents of Cyprus to qualify for assistance, ensuring that the support is localized and relevant.
2. Priority is given to families who receive insufficient state support, with the aim of supplementing these resources to provide comprehensive care.
3. Financial eligibility is determined based on gross family income and the number of dependent children, ensuring support is scaled to family size and financial need.

Evaluation Process by the Zimin Foundation:

The Zimin Foundation implements a comprehensive evaluation process to ensure alignment with the highest standards of care, as well as provision of fair and impactful assistance to families in need. The evaluation involves the following steps:

The Program Coordinator: conducts a preliminary review of each submission, examining the integrity of the application, including but not limited to, the completeness of financial documentation, evidence of state support, and adherence to submission deadlines.

Expert Committee Meeting: constituted of specialists from the program-affiliated centres, shall convene to deliberate on these pre-screened applications. Their examination will prioritise assessing the substantive merit and reasonableness of each application in compliance with a defined evaluative framework to guarantee fair approach and comprehensive consideration.

Cyprus Child Rehabilitation Program Committee* Meeting: comprising figures from the community, will convene to undertake the ultimate review of applications endorsed by the Expert Committee. This committee's deliberations will be centred on affirming the equitable allocation of resources, ensuring that the disbursement of funds is conducted with integrity and corresponds with the comprehensive assessments provided by preceding evaluative bodies.

Application Review Period: Applications are accepted during a specifically designated period each year, allowing for an organised approach to gathering and reviewing applications from rehabilitation centres on behalf of families.

Focus on the Cover Letter: The evaluation places significant emphasis on the cover letter from rehabilitation centres, detailing the child's specific rehabilitation needs and proposed services.

Notification of Decisions: Decisions are communicated to the relevant rehabilitation centres by a predetermined date, ensuring timely support for approved families.

Feedback and Reporting: Following the provision of services, rehabilitation centres are required to submit detailed feedback and reports to the Foundation, promoting transparency and accountability.

Ongoing Monitoring and Feedback: The Zimin Foundation monitors the effectiveness of the services and may seek feedback from the families and rehabilitation centres. This is to ensure continual improvement and adaptation of the services.
